When I’m a good sleeper, I’m a very, very good sleeper. But when I’m bad, I’m a nightmare. The definitions of “good” and “bad” here are malleable. I think it’s good that I can fall asleep anywhere, at any time, with any amount of background stimulus. Yes, I did fall asleep on the floor of a punk show once, and yes, that was probably dangerous. But I survived!
There are two big problems here. I hate waking up, and if left alone, I will sleep for 16+ hours with no problem. And when I can’t sleep, I really can’t sleep. Sometimes, sitting up and turning on the lights to read for a while solves it, or finding a little craft project to do while I watch an episode of TV I’ve already seen. But more often, there’s nothing to do besides carve out time for a nap the next day.
