Hello, hello, and welcome to the penultimate NaPoWriMo Draft Dump! We’re going to have a little one on Sunday, to mark the end of NaPoWriMo 2023. It’ll still be five poems, so you aren’t getting shortchanged! Wow, I can’t believe this month is almost finished – it’s gone by really fast, which is kind of a surprise. I thought being more embedded in poetry on a daily basis would make the month trudge along. Nope!
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure if this newsletter is gonna look good at all. One of these poems is in a specialized format – thanks to my friend Rebecca for the idea! – but I’m not 100 percent certain the image file will look good/readable in the text. If you’re on mobile, you might want to save that one for desktop. That poem’s called Relevant Experience; you’ll see it on the way down.
Let’s see. I also do some cross-language rhyming (I learned a term for this ages ago, in a review of Hamilton, but Google wants me to believe it’s called “macaronic rhyme” which doesn’t sound familiar), and I experiment with a format called a dizain. This week was really fun for me, life-wise and writing-wise. I hope you enjoy what I’ve got for you.
