Hi, I'm Hattie!
I'm from Missouri. I went to school in Arizona. I live in New York City.
I am a writer, journalist and comedian.
My first book is called Poems [for, about, because] My Friends.
My solo musical comedy is called I Was Never Cast in Annie.
The zine I’m launching in 2024 is called Reporter Quarterly.
I completed a SAFTA residency in September 2022. My poetry, fiction and essays have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. I won a karaoke contest by performing 99 Luftballons in German, mere days after recovering from pneumonia!
I perform sketch comedy and musical comedy! I love parody songs!
I also used to do standup. I didn’t really like it. But I did create the first weekly comedy show in Phoenix AZ with a lineup exclusively comprised of women and nonbinary performers. It was called Ladykillers. When I moved to New York, I kept doing the show, partnering with local cosmetic brands and hosting the events in beauty retailers. That was cool!
Uhhhhhhhh what else uhhhhhh…Oh! My newsletter is pretty good. It’s a mix of poetry, personal essays, beauty writing, live event invites, and a column called What I Did Not Buy This Week, which people REALLY like. You can steal that idea for your blog if you want. Sign up and steal my ideas, please!
